Super Stylist Spotlight

Spreading the love this holiday season The Shampoo Family is so happy to have grown in the last year to include some incredibly talented stylists, from across Canada and right here in Victoria. We would love for you to meet this great group and help us welcome them to our beautiful city.  Until the end of the year, the salon will donate 10% of each service with the stylists that joined our team this year. Donations will go to organizations that resonate with our stylists and causes that are close to us. Our community has given us so much this year, and giving back is so important. We hope that you will take a chance on getting to know a new face for a good cause!  The following organizations are highlighted this year: Support network for indigenous women and women of colour a Canadian non-profit organization committed to the empowerment of women with food, art, and education. We address barriers that limit access to healthcare and full reproductive choice. SNIWWOC operates from a holistic and integrated service model that addresses the social, cultural and political realities of women who identify as black, indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC). The Foundry  Foundry Victoria offers young people 12-24 access to mental health and substance use support, primary care, peer support and social services. Womens transition House Victoria Women’s Transition House Society collaborates, advocates and educates to address and prevent intimate partner violence and abuse of women and children through supportive shelter, housing, counselling and other community-based services. Meet our new faces: Annie Annie joined the Shampoo team this year just before the salon was closed in March. Since starting at Shampoo, Annie has faced the challenge of building a new clientele, settling into a new city, and weathering a pandemic. Annie is a cutting specialist from Montreal. She draws inspiration from Montreal street style, Vidal Sassoon cutting techniques, and natural hair textures.  Leading up to the holidays, Annie chose The Foundry for us to support on her behalf. So if you’ve been thinking about getting a new cut, now is the perfect opportunity to support Annie, while supporting a great local cause. Carmen Carmen was supposed to start at Shampoo in April. However, 2020 had different plans for us. When she was finally able to get behind the chair at our Fairfield location in July, we knew she would be an instant fit with the Shampoo family. Carmen has been an established stylist in Kelowna for years, and was so excited for her new home in Victoria. We want to give her the warmest welcome for her first holiday season on the Island. Book in before the end of the year with Carmen to support her, while supporting The Foundry Victoria.  Garlande Garlande has been on a mission to slowly make her way west across Canada, and we are so happy she landed at Shampoo! A master colourist from Toronto, Garlande is so passionate about creating the most dreamy hair in every shade of the rainbow. She cuts a mean shag too. Garlande would love for her day to be filled with clients who love to try something new and a little out there, and who like to talk about paranormal activity. If that sounds like you, book with Garlande to support her and The Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour.  Julie Please welcome Julie to the Shampoo Downtown team! Julie has been a stylist in Victoria since 2012, but was out of the game for a little while. She took a break from hair late last year, and decided she couldn’t stay away any longer! We love having Julies fun and passionate energy in the salon (did you know that she can do a one handed cartwheel?!). And we know you’ll love her too. Julie has chosen these funds to go to The Foundry Victoria. We hope you will join us in supporting this lovely and talented stylist while supporting this important organization.  Robyn Robyn joined us upon our reopening in June after her previous salon had to unfortunately close their doors permanently following the initial pandemic closures. She is already an invaluable member of our team, as if she has been with us forever! We are so happy to have her and would love to have her schedule full this holiday season. She loves blondes, fun bright colours, and styles with edge. If you’d like to meet Robyn, book in with her before the end of the year! She will gain an awesome new client, and Shampoo will donate 10% of each service to The Support Network For Indigenous Women and Women of Colour.

New but Normal

August 22, 2020 Since reopening both Shampoo locations on June 1st, we have learned a lot about how best to handle the organizational challenges facing us. Thank you so much for joining us, trusting us, and your incredible feedback. We are so grateful to hear that you feel safe in the salon and that you appreciate the safety measures we are taking.  Here is a quick update of our salon procedures.  Please ensure that you comply with mandatory screening criteria prior to your visit with us. We will not be able to perform a service for you if: You have been outside of Canada within the last 14 days. Have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case. You have any COVID-19 symptoms (even mildly). Things to note on the day of your appointment: We are no longer able to accomodate more than 2 people in our indoor waiting area. Please do not arrive early for your appointment. Come to the door at the time of your appointment so that we can check you in and bring you to your stylists chair.  Masks are mandatory for everyone at all times in the salon. We appreciate your efforts to bring reusable masks to reduce waste from disposable PPE. Disposable makes are available for colour appointments.  In order to maintain a limited capacity in the salon and provide adequate cleaning time, we book far fewer appointments in a day than we used to. Of course this affects the bottom line of the salon and our commission-based stylists. We are able to offset this through careful booking and a restructuring of our prices. However, we ask that you keep this in mind when needing to cancel or reschedule.  We encourage consultations prior to larger services to ensure that we have you booked in accurately, and we have an extensive waitlist of clients hoping to get in as soon as possible. We may ask to hold a deposit for you to confirm colour services that are longer than normal, or if you have missed an appointment in the past.  Thank you so much for your understanding and your positivity. We feel so lucky to have such a lovely and supportive community of clients and friends. Our front desk team is ready to answer any questions you may have regarding our new procedures, or anything else!
May 19, 2020

May 19, 2020 We are so excited to share with you that both Shampoo Hair Bar locations will reopen on June 1st. Before talking about all the ways your salon experience will be different, we want to thank you all so much for your support. This closure has not been easy for any of us, but knowing that we have such a fantastic community has helped immensely. We look forward to getting back to creating beautiful hair in a safe and comfortable environment. Shampoo Hair Bar is committed to providing a safe workplace for all of our staff. We have been in contact with WorkSafe BC to clarify some of our questions and concerns, and are confident that all the measures we have put in place will ensure that Shampoo is a safe place for our stylists to work, and for our clients to visit.
March 30, 2020

March 30, 2020 The salon remains closed as mandated. Unfortunately without further news, we are unable to provide an opening date to our clients.
