We are so excited to share with you that both Shampoo Hair Bar locations will reopen on June 1st. Before talking about all the ways your salon experience will be different, we want to thank you all so much for your support. This closure has not been easy for any of us, but knowing that we have such a fantastic community has helped immensely. We look forward to getting back to creating beautiful hair in a safe and comfortable environment.

Shampoo Hair Bar is committed to providing a safe workplace for all of our staff. We have been in contact with WorkSafe BC to clarify some of our questions and concerns, and are confident that all the measures we have put in place will ensure that Shampoo is a safe place for our stylists to work, and for our clients to visit.

We are currently working on calling our waitlist of clients. Starting with appointments that were missed during our closure. If you would like to make a new appointment, don’t hesitate to reach out. We might not be able to get back to you right away, but we are committed to getting back to each and every one of you as quickly as possible.

Every member of the Shampoo team is Beauty Council certified in ‘Beauty Safe’. A certification that promotes protocols of infection control, safe cleaning, sterilization and chemical practices.

Here are some things to expect when you have an appointment:

Before you come in we need to ensure that you meet the criteria laid out in the COVID-19 screening questionnaire provided to us by the Beauty Council. If you:

  • Are experiencing any cold, flu, or COVID-19 like symptoms, even mildly.
  • Have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days
  • Have provided care or had close contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

We will be unable to provide a service to you.

In conjunction with this new criteria, we will not be enforcing any cancellation policy for the foreseeable future. We are making every effort to ensure the health and wellbeing of our staff and clients come first. So please communicate with us if you would prefer not to keep an appointment. As much notice as possible for schedule changes helps us to better accommodate clients on our waitlist.

All stylists and clients will be wearing masks at all times, we will have some on hand if you forget yours. Masks that loop around your ears are best, so that they don’t interfere with your haircut!

When you arrive, we will ask you to wait for the front desk to invite you in. We have a check in table with hand sanitizer and masks if needed. If your stylist is not ready for you quite yet, you will need to wait in one of our designated waiting areas outside, or in your car.

Unfortunately we will no longer be providing beverages or magazines for now.

We also ask that you come alone to your appointments, unless it is necessary for you to have someone accompany you.

Having a blowdry with your service is optional. Typically this is an essential part of your service, as it allows your stylist to make final adjustments to your cut, and make sure your colour turned out perfectly. We have asked representatives at WorkSafe BC specifically about this, and they have assured us that with the other measures we have in place, blowdrys are possible to perform safely. However, if you prefer to opt-out of this element of your service, just let your stylist know at the start of your appointment. We are happy to tailor any service to your comfort level.

Hand sanitizer is required when entering the salon and will also be available at various locations throughout the salon.

Cash is still accepted, but we encourage card payment to keep cash handling to a minimum. You can tip your stylist directly, or leave a tip on the machine at the front desk.

All of our high-touch areas will be cleaned regularly. This includes our product shelves, but our support staff will be happy to help you with retail purchases so that we can keep contact with products to a minimum. 

Appointments are to be staggered to minimize the number of people coming and going at the same time. We have also spaced out our stations to allow distance between each client and their stylist. Colour appointments are booked straight through, so you will stay at your station while your colour is processing. 

Pricing Post Covid

Moving forward after our COVID-19 closure. We have decided not to add a “COVID” charge to our bills. This would help offset the costs incurred by purchasing protective equipment, as well as revenues lost due to increased cleaning time. In lieu of that, we have decided to move each of our stylists up a price level.
By doing this, the salon will be able to recover some costs, but our stylists will also be able to recover some of their increased expenses and lost revenues.
This salon is commission based, and we would not feel right introducing a measure that would only benefit the salon, and not it’s commission based staff.

This does mean that the price of your services will be increasing. For a more extensive breakdown of how we created our price list, please read our full statement on the “Services” page.

The salon remains closed as mandated. Unfortunately without further news, we are unable to provide an opening date to our clients.

We have contacted all bookings up to April 6th, and will be getting in touch with you soon if you have an appointment scheduled after that date.

We are in the salon regularly to check voicemails and emails, and complete product purchases for pickup or delivery if needed. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything you need.

Thank you for all of your support during this uncertain time. Thank you for not cutting and colouring your hair at home! We can’t wait to get back to work.

At this time we have made the difficult decision to close both Shampoo locations effective immediately. The health and safety of our guests and team is so incredibly important to us, and feel we cannot maintain the recommended social distance in the salon.

We would love to help in any way we can at this time, by rescheduling your appointment, or by helping you access products you might need.

Our best judgement is to defer appointments to the week of April 6th and beyond. However we will continue to monitor developments and will extend our closure if necessary. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Our front desk staff is ready to assist you by phone or email to reschedule your appointments, or answer any of your questions.

We are so excited to announce a wonderful new chapter for Shampoo and our team!

As of August 2nd Studio Seven will be a member of the Shampoo Hair Bar family. 

We appreciate Jane and Nick so much and love the community they have built at Studio Seven. Shampoo Hair Bar is committed to upholding the strong standards of service and attention to detail that Studio Seven stands for. 

There will be a few changes as we get our second location up and running, but we want to make sure the process is as seamless as possible. Your support means so much to us, so please let any one of our team members know if you have any questions or concerns. Your services at Shampoo Fairfield won’t be affected, but you will have twice the opportunity to book with our awesome stylists!

We can’t wait to check out our new neighborhood, and enjoy everything that Lower Johnson has to offer. We know you will love our second location and look forward to seeing you there!
